At our first rehearsal following competition, we had our annual installation of the new management team. The "ceremony" was conducted by Barb Vander Putten, who asked each member to dance a solo to music she selected while she read our job descriptions. It was fun and enjoyed by everyone.
During the above-mentioned meeting, we honored our newest Sweet Adeline of the Year. This year's honoree is Sherry Rowe, whose credits are numerous. If I were to list her qualities, it would take hours and fill numerous pages. She is our current team leader, director of our daytime chorus (Extension Chords), Section Leader, and major support person for our director. That's just a small sample of all she contributes to the chorus and individuals.
We were satisfied with our 5th place medal given a difficult year. Our last director, Dede Nibler, decided to retire, and the search for a replacement took longer than expected. We also moved to a new rehearsal facility. We finally have a new director, the newly minted Kristi Penelton (formerly Kristi Bispo) that we are happy about. It promises to be a very busy new year leading up to next year's contest because she has lined up extra rehearsals, numerous coaching sessions from international coaches, a slew of new music, and a show in October (details will follow as they become available).
You will be hearing more from us in the coming months.
