Love to sing? Check out SVC!The award winning, high energy Sacramento Valley Chorus, a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, is a women’s singing group specializing in four-part harmony, a cappella singing in the barbershop style. It offers a wide variety of music and styles, from jazz, blues, and ballads to Broadway Show tunes, complete with dazzling costumes and exciting choreography.

Membership in this 100+ voice group includes women from all walks of life who live primarily in the greater Sacramento area. The chorus also draws members from communities up to 100 miles away. Members range from students and homemakers to working professionals and retirees. Women of all ages and ethnicity are welcome. The organization includes activities for young women, as well, including an annual Mountain Harmony Camp held in Alliance Redwoods.

The Sacramento Valley Chorus (SVC), chartered in 1979, has enjoyed success in our annual competitions, where choruses compete and are judged in the categories of Sound, Music, Expression and Showmanship. Check out our Awards page to see what we have accomplished in the past years. The highlights of our competition years are as follows. In 1989, the chorus won first place at Regional Competition, qualifying them for International finals where they placed 6th in 1990. In 2001, SVC competed in the International Education Symposium Harmony Classic, where they placed 4th in Division AA. In 2013, SVC earned a score of 610, which earned the Director the distinction of "Master Director," and chorus members the distinction of "Master Singers." Then in 2014, that score was blown out of the water with the highest score in the chorus's history - 640 - which earned the chorus a wildcard invitation to the International Competition in Las Vegas, Nevada in October 2015! When we competed at Regionals in 2016 we scored high enough again to be invited to compete Internationally in 2017 in Las Vegas. We are now starting another leg of our journey as a Wildcard Chorus.

Known for excellent vocal production and energized sound, the Sacramento Valley Chorus loves to perform and has performed for such audiences as the Sacramento Kings, the Sacramento River Cats, a PEO State Convention, the California State Fair, the Grand Opening of the Convention Center, and the re-opening of the Marines Memorial Auditorium. In the past, Sacramento Valley Chorus also had the opportunity to sing at various local musical venues, such as the widely renowned Sacramento Jazz Jubilee and the newly developed SacSings! Sacramento Choral Festival. Annual holiday performances include the Capitol Rotunda and Nursing Care Facilities. In the past we sang for Sacramento Ballet's Nutcracker Suite, and at various local shopping malls, in addition to bringing Christmas cheer to house bound people throughout the Sacramento area. In February, chapter quartets have serenaded hundreds on Valentines Day through their specialized Singing Valentines program. A highlight for the chorus came in 2013, when they had the privilege of representing Sweet Adelines International at Carnegie Hall in New York City. In 2002 the Sacramento Valley Chorus was named the Best Singing Group with more than 100 people by Sacramento Magazine.
